In my final semester as a TV student, the phrase "Do it for the Insta" not only rings true socially, but also carries some meaning academically. When you're directing or producing a piece, you have to do whatever it takes to get the shot. In a final project that was assigned with only three weeks to fully complete from pre to post, lots of creativity was needed to pull off an A. Securing a location was simple, choosing the throwback music was fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to edit something so creative. With the exception of having to act in this myself, something I hope to never do again, everything ran smoothly. As directors who couldn't find actors available during last semester's finals week, Andrew and I "did it for the insta" and stepped in to act. Thankfully, we had a great grasp on the story we wanted to tell, which at its core drove this piece to become what it is. I believe the premise of College Peter is something that every rising-graduate has felt- a hope that they'll be able to smoothly adjust to the real world. Not that the opposite guarantees full-blown alcoholism, but that the refusal to enter the next phases of life will leave you in an arrested development. Editing in a time-lapse wasn't only done to fit the class requirements, but making the whole piece a blur symbolizes both the unknown of what comes next, as well as the memories we'll all favorably look back on when we graduate. In college, we are all in the place. When we move on, everyone will move at a different pace despite having once been in the same class. What's important here is to always remember the friends who made your best college years so great. Make time to celebrate that birthday or promotion and save your vacation days to visit a friend who moved to a new city. Through the looming unrest that is entering the real world, having my zeta's by my side makes it much easier. Producing a piece that symbolizes every fear I have about the next step was not easy to do, but knowing I have the best group of friends to ease the transition is all I need. And a job. That too.
